Haiti - FLASH : The Grenadières won over Canada [2-1]

Monday at Athletic National Granada of St Georges (Grenada), as part of the final phase of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup (U-17) to be held from 30 September to 21 October 2016 in Jordan our young Grenadières have offered an historic victory by winning [2-1] against Canada, the favorite team of Group A and qualified for the semifinals, after having brilliantly illustrated by winning 3 consecutive matches in the latter elimination phase.

In the first half both teams could not do better than to make a zero [0-0] despite the Canadian domination.

After the break, the Canadian increased their pressure on Grenadières, without finding fault able to bring them a goal, Haitian defense with Kerly Theus, opposed any attempt of the opponent, until late Sara Stratigakis shot in the 77th minute of the match who scored a first goal for Canada [0-1].

A goal that boosted Grenadières. At 9 minutes from the end on a free kick totally eccentric right side (mini corner) Mikerline St-Félix returns the two teams tied [1-1] after a poorly negotiated balloon in Canadian opponent's box.

But the girls at the Maple Leaf were far from the end of their sentence, since the new star of women's football Haitian Nérilia Mondesir would in spite of all cause a penalty in the red and white camp that Mélissa Dacius, entered during the game, transformed without hesitation, scoring the winning goal for Haiti in the 85th minute [2-1], score unchanged until the whistle of endgame.

Now our Grenadières waiting to know their opponents in Group B in the semifinals, which could be Mexico.

A victory highlighted in a note by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action.
